Friday Focus #049 - What Do You Want?
Mar 14, 2025
Hey,
What Do You Want?
As I approach 40—with four kids under four, a wife, a home, friends, and family—I find myself asking: What truly matters? What do I want my life to look like in three years? Five? Ten? What kind of life am I building for them—and for myself?
So, let me ask you:
- What vision do you have for your life?
- How do you measure success?
- What truly matters to you?
My Journey
Having twins when our first two were just 15 months apart was a wake-up call.
I thought I was prepared. I wasn’t. I had dreams, ambitions, and plans, but stepping into a new season of life changed my perspective. What once seemed important began to fade.
My wife asked me a while back: "What do you really want?"
The answer came out instantly as if I had been waiting years to say it:
âś” A prosperous marriage
âś” A peaceful home
âś” A balanced life
I wanted fewer but deeper friendships. I wanted to simplify my businesses—cut unnecessary expenses and let go of responsibilities I’d carried for too long. It was time for hard choices.
So, I made them…
âś… I sold my equity in multiple companies, walking away from a lot of money.
âś… I canceled consulting engagements, turned down renewals, and stopped saying yes because I could.
âś… I set boundaries:
- Less content—no more weekly newsletters, fewer social posts, and the podcast is on hold.
- A true Sabbath—24 hours of no work every week.
It hasn’t been easy. I won’t be perfect. But now, I have a North Star guiding my decisions.
So, back to you…
What do you want?
What does your life look like in three years? Ten? Write it down. Share it. Make a plan.
Because clarity is the first step toward making it a reality.
Stay Focused,
Casey
